KICY is western Alaska’s Sports Leader. We cover high school sporting events including wrestling, volleyball, and of course, basketball.

Coverage includes reporting on events that take place and live play by play of games. We cover the home town Nome Nanooks as well as the schools in the Bering Strait School District and Lower Yukon School District. This year we covered several large tournaments both here in Nome and the villages.

Another big event every year is the elementary wrestling and cheerleading tournament in Unalakleet. Travel is expensive in Western Alaska and most parents are unable to attend these events. However, they are able to follow along and cheer on their students as they tune in to KICY.
